This is an exciting opportunity for a Plumbing Apprentice to join a growing team working on large-scale infrastructure projects, gaining valuable experience and long-term career development opportunities within a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
As a Plumbing Apprentice (2nd or 3rd Year), you will support the installation, maintenance, and commissioning of piping systems and mechanical infrastructure on various projects while continuing to develop your technical skills under the guidance of experienced tradespeople.
Process Piping & Mechanical Installation
- Assist with the installation and maintenance of piping systems used in water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Perform pipe fitting activities including measuring, cutting, threading, grooving, and assembling piping systems under the direction of Journeyperson Plumbers and site supervisors.
- Support the installation of pumps, valves, tanks, and mechanical equipment while ensuring work is completed in accordance with project specifications and quality standards.
- Assist with material handling, equipment preparation, and job site organization to support efficient project execution.
Project Execution & Technical Development
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and work plans with guidance from supervisors to support accurate installations.
- Assist with pressure testing, flushing, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities to ensure systems operate safely and effectively.
- Develop practical knowledge of municipal and industrial piping systems while gaining hands-on field experience.
- Support project teams in identifying and resolving installation challenges while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
Safety & Site Operations
- Follow all company safety procedures, site-specific requirements, and industry best practices to maintain a safe work environment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to support operational efficiency and safety.
- Participate in safety meetings, inspections, and training initiatives as required.
- Travel and work on remote job sites as required to support project timelines and client requirements.
Team Collaboration & Apprenticeship Development
- Work closely with Journeyperson Plumbers, supervisors, project managers, and fellow tradespeople to support successful project completion.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn and actively develop technical skills through on-the-job training and mentorship.
- Contribute positively to team objectives by maintaining a strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to quality workmanship.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Currently registered as a plumbing apprentice with Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training.
- Familiarity with Alberta plumbing codes and industry standards.
- Ability to work out of town on a 5&2 and 10&4 rotational schedule.
- A valid class 5 driver's license is required.
- Safety certifications such as a First Aid Certification and Confined Space Training are considered assets.
Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of plumbing systems, piping installations, and mechanical equipment gained through apprenticeship training and field experience.
- Ability to read and interpret basic technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Familiarity with plumbing tools, materials, and installation practices.
- Exposure to pressure testing, commissioning procedures, and industrial construction practices is considered an asset.

- Ability to follow instructions and troubleshoot.
- Reliable, safety-conscious, and detail-oriented approach to daily work activities.
