We’re looking for experienced Journeyperson Electricians to join our Mine Equipment Maintenance team in Fort McMurray.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Five years of post-apprenticeship experience maintaining mining heavy equipment

  • A Valid Alberta Journeyperson Electrician Certificate or an Interprovincial Red Seal

  • Experience working on P&H and Cat electric cable shovels or Komatsu A/C ultra-class electric haul trucks

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)

Responsibilities:

  • Install, terminate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair communication and fleet management systems, including Collision Avoidance Systems (CAS) and Operator Awareness Systems (OAS)

  • Perform installation, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on electrical safety systems, motor starters, medium-voltage drives, PLCs, power distribution systems (7.2kV, 600V, 480V, and 220V), and computerized control systems

  • Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and repairs on heavy mobile and auxiliary equipment while maintaining accurate maintenance records

  • Support the removal and replacement of major equipment components, including engines, transmissions, and wheel motors

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and test high-voltage trailing cables and associated electrical systems

  • Participate in failure investigations and root cause analyses to identify and implement reliability improvements

Location and other key details

  • You will work out of our base plant site in Fort McMurray, Alberta

  • The shift schedule is a six days on/six days off rotation (three days on, three nights on, six days off; 12-hour shifts)

  • This position is safety sensitive

  • You will be required to perform some heavy lifting, use of ladders and working on elevated work sites such as scaffolds and towers with the ability to perform in a variety of different environments both indoor and outdoor as well as within confined
