Wood is seeking a Building Services / HVAC Engineer to join our Mining & Minerals business focusing on designing and delivering mining projects globally. This opportunity is Onsite at our Vancouver, Trail, Saskatoon or Burlington office.

The Role 

Wood currently has an exciting opportunity for a Building Services / HVAC Engineer to join our Mining & Minerals business team. The role will be reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager; this position is in our Saskatoon, SK office.

The salary range for this role is CDN $115,000 - 175,000 per year.  Final salary will be based on relevant and applicable experience, education, and the specific skill set and qualifications required for the role.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities: 

  • Building services systems and equipment design including heavy industrial HVAC, fire protection, compressed air, dust collection, plumbing, potable water and drainage related to mining and metal processing or similar processing industries. 
  • Performing calculations for utility, heating, venting and dust systems and equipment 
  • Prepare HVAC, Fire Protection, Dust collection Design Criteria 
  • Prepare HVAC equipment, Dust collection, Plumbing and Drainage, Fire Protection equipment specifications and datasheets 
  • Development of flow schematics and P&IDs. 
  • Evaluating vendor equipment bids 
  • Reviewing project documents prior to issue for scope and presentation, including checking for technical accuracy 
  • Other engineering duties as directed

Qualifications

Expected:  

  • Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering 
  • Familiarity with HVAC design codes, calculations, equipment selection and specification development 
  • Proven experience in applying ASHRAE Standards, ACGIH, Canadian Building Code, National Plumbing Code, CSA, ASME as it pertains to engineering design of large industrial projects 
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada with the ability to register in the province of Saskatchewan is required. 
  • Mining and metal processing, or similar experience 
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Ability to work efficiently and demonstrate effective organizational skills 

Desirable: 

  • 5+ years of related design experience is an asset 
  • Proven expertise using HAP and Fathom.  Knowledge of AutoCAD and 3D design/drafting considered an asset
