Wicehtowak Frontec Services is seeking a Lead Journeyperson HVAC Technician to join our team at the Jansen Discovery Lodge, a workforce housing facility supporting the potash mining operation near Jansen, Saskatchewan.
Reporting to site leadership, the Lead Journeyperson HVAC Technician is responsible for the inspection, installation, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of commercial and industrial HVAC and refrigeration systems. This role also provides technical leadership, mentorship, and coordination of daily work activities for HVAC technicians and apprentices.
The Jansen Discovery Lodge is located approximately 155 km east of Saskatoon, SK. This position works a 14 days on / 14 days off rotation.
Accommodations and meals are provided during work rotations
Camp-based, remote work environment
Perform timely inspections, testing, and accurate reporting of HVAC and refrigeration equipment defects or deficiencies
Complete scheduled preventative and corrective maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration systems and fixtures
Ensure all work meets manufacturer specifications, applicable codes, and environmental protection requirements
Support the planning and scheduling of work and assist in meeting committed maintenance schedules
Assist with scoping, estimating, planning, and execution of new work and HVAC-related projects
Lead, mentor, and support HVAC technicians and apprentices
Work closely with supervisors and the Maintenance Manager to ensure daily and weekly work plans align with operational priorities
Track HVAC team job progress and provide regular updates to management
Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and schematics
Maintain a strong focus on personal and team safety
Perform other related duties as assigned
This position requires a high level of physical activity in an industrial work environment, including:
Standing for extended periods during shifts
Frequent use of power and mobile tools, equipment, and machinery
Lifting up to 40 lbs regularly and pushing/pulling equipment up to 250 lbs
Bending, stretching, twisting, reaching, climbing, and repetitive motions
Manual dexterity to operate tools and handle small components
Working in noisy environments and maintaining awareness of surroundings
Maintaining balance, coordination, and body control in stable and unstable positions
Clear communication abilities, including hearing and speaking clearly
Visual acuity to identify details at varying distances
Journeyperson Certified HVAC Refrigeration Mechanic (Red Seal) with a minimum of 5 years’ experience
Valid Saskatchewan General Gas Ticket and ability to endorse WFS’s contractor gas ticket
Current OSSA or OSHA‑approved certifications in:
Fall Arrest
Confined Space
Elevated Work Platform
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment
Strong commitment to safety excellence
SAP experience is considered an asset (training will be provided)
Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean driver’s abstract
