Role Summary

The Journeyperson Electrician delivers safe, high-quality electrical service, maintenance, and small project work across commercial and industrial facilities in Calgary. Working independently or alongside field crews, this role ensures electrical systems operate reliably and efficiently while supporting HVAC/R and Plumbing teams.

Key Impact / Purpose

  • Deliver safe, code-compliant electrical service and installation work aligned with Modern Niagara safety standards.
  • Maintain reliable building operations through effective troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems.
  • Support integrated project delivery by collaborating with HVAC/R and Plumbing teams.
  • Enhance client trust through professionalism, proactive communication, and quality workmanship.
  • Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform assigned service and project work under the direction of the Field Superintendent.
  • Service, repair, and maintain electrical systems including fire alarm, building controls, and data systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems with strong working knowledge of HVAC and plumbing operations.
  • Maintain, repair, and replace motor control centers, breakers, switches, switchboards, transformers, motors, fixtures, branch circuit wiring, and BAS wiring.
  • Install conduit systems and complete electrical installations including EV charging infrastructure, lighting upgrades, panel replacements, service upgrades, and small projects.
  • Execute safe shut-down, lock-out/tag-out, and start-up of major building equipment.
  • Provide on-site estimating assistance and order required materials.
  • Support HVAC/R and Plumbing teams with electrical expertise.
  • Operate and maintain a clean, well-inventoried company service vehicle.
  • Adhere to all Modern Niagara safety policies and procedures.

Must Haves

  • Valid Journeyperson Electrician certification (Alberta).
  • Experience in commercial and/or industrial electrical environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Working knowledge of fire alarm systems, building controls, and BAS wiring.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong commitment to health and safety standards.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with EV charging infrastructure installations.
  • Previous service-based electrical experience.
  • Experience supporting integrated mechanical teams.
  • Basic estimating experience.

This is a new position. Expected hourly compensation: $35/hr – $40/hr
