Job Title: Mechanical Technologist / Technician

Department: Maintenance

Reports To: Plant Manager

Location: Huntsville, Ontario

Position Overview

Mechanical Technologist/Technician supports our Huntsville, Ontario operations and will be responsible for improving manufacturing efficiency through the identification and resolution of technical issues across processes, equipment, and systems.

The successful candidate will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, reduce waste and downtime, enhance machine performance, and support the development and optimization of manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the installation, commissioning, and start-up of new process equipment
• Assist in troubleshooting daily production, tooling, and equipment issues
• Develop 3D models, drawings, and layouts for tooling, fixturing, and plant equipment
• Interpret engineering data and prepare clear technical documentation
• Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., scrap reduction, efficiency gains, changeover reduction)
• Collaborate on capital and tooling projects, including RFQ processes and supplier coordination
• Support maintenance initiatives, including preventive maintenance programs and equipment reliability improvements
• Develop and maintain standardized work procedures and process documentation
• Participate in LEAN, 5S, and manufacturing capability planning initiatives
• Promote and support a safe working environment in compliance with company policies and standards
• Travel occasionally within North America, as required
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications & Experience

• Post-secondary diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology/Technician or equivalent
• 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
• Understanding of extrusion or similar production processes is preferred
• Experience with ERP systems is considered an asset
• Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and Inventor
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage tasks, timelines, and multiple priorities effectively
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization
• Self-motivated, adaptable, and continuously seeking improvement
