Position Summary

The Oncology Pipeline Director is responsible for representing the Canadian commercial perspective across the lifecycle of a broad portfolio of novel oncology assets and indications, including multiple brands in key tumor types, from early development through launch and post-launch optimization. This high-profile role serves as the primary Canadian commercial leader interfacing with global and regional asset and marketing teams for all relevant oncology assets, providing strategic guidance and input on Canadian needs for commercial readiness, market access and launch excellence, and ensuring asset and indication value is maximized for Canada.


The Director will work cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Market Access, Regulatory, Business Intelligence and other stakeholders in Canada to shape the development path and commercialization strategy for this multi-brand oncology portfolio, including prioritization across assets, resource and investment allocation and timing, and business case / P&L development. The role requires deep expertise in Canadian oncology market dynamics, competitive intelligence and the payer landscape, as well as demonstrated commercial launch excellence across multiple assets. The Director will ensure the Canadian perspective is considered, built into global and regional strategy, and effectively localized for execution.


Responsibilities

Canada Oncology Asset / Indication Strategy Leadership:

  • Serve as the Canadian commercial lead for a portfolio of oncology assets, indications and brands at different lifecycle stages (pre-launch, launch and in-line) on global and regional teams, ensuring the Canadian perspective is considered in development and commercialization decisions.
  • Lead Canadian commercial strategy for a multi-brand oncology portfolio, including several assets with overlapping launch timelines over the next 2–4 years.
  • Shape Canadian positioning strategy, value proposition and differentiation relative to current and emerging competitors for each priority asset and tumor type.
  • Act as a member of the Oncology Leadership Team.
  • Translate Canadian market insights into actionable strategy for local and global / regional teams as needed.
  • Partner with local Medical and Clinical teams to ensure understanding of local drivers and barriers to success of clinical trial sites in Canada and implications for potential commercial success or needs.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize label potential and market access positioning.
  • Represent Canada on selected global oncology asset and global marketing teams, building strong relationships and proactively shaping global strategy, evidence plans and launch readiness to enable Canadian success.

Canada Market Intelligence & Competitive Strategy:

  • Lead the cross-functional team for Canada for market landscape assessments, including:
    • Disease epidemiology
    • Treatment paradigms
    • Competitive intelligence
  • Monitor evolving competitive pipelines across key tumor types (e.g., Lung, Gynecological, GI, GU and other solid and hematologic malignancies), translating insights into portfolio-level strategic implications for positioning, sequencing, resource allocation and investment decisions.
  • Integrate clinical, market access and real-world performance data to continuously refine Canadian brand and indication strategies.

Forecasting & Business Case Development:

  • Collaborate with Business Intelligence to develop robust Canadian forecasts and scenario planning.
  • Lead assessment of commercial opportunity, pricing potential and market uptake dynamics for multiple oncology assets and indications, and own or co-own the Canadian forecast assumptions for these brands.
  • Provide strategic input into investment decisions and lifecycle planning.
  • Drive portfolio-level scenario planning (e.g., launch sequencing, label evolution, competitive entries) and articulate clear implications for Canadian revenues, margin and investment.

Cross-Functional Leadership:

  • Serve as a key integrator across:
    • Oncology Commercial Leadership
    • Medical Affairs
    • Market Access
    • Regulatory
    • Business Intelligence
  • Drive alignment and integrated strategic plan development across stakeholders to ensure timely and strategic decision making.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and coaching to a commercial pipeline / brand team while orchestrating a broader cross-functional matrix across Canadian and global stakeholders.
  • Navigate complex global–local matrix structures and ensure a seamless flow of information and decisions between Canada and global / regional asset and marketing teams.

Why You?
Basic Qualifications
We are seeking professionals with the following required skills and qualifications to help us achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, life sciences, healthcare, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry with 5–7+ years focused on oncology, across more than one tumor type or indication.
  • Experience owning or co-owning country-level oncology brand or franchise strategy, including launch planning and post-launch performance management.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with global and/or regional asset or marketing teams to align Canadian plans and secure launch readiness.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently and effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong independent researching skills using a variety of modes from scientific publications, reputable internet sources and/or AI-supported researching.
  • Ability to influence without authority and drive towards a goal across multiple stakeholders.
  • Effective time management skills; ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and responsibilities of increasing scope and complexity.
  • Reliability, independence and punctuality (high level of professionalism).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, accountable, passionate, committed and invested in the business.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to identify problems early and seek innovative solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word).


Preferred Qualifications
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Advanced scientific degree (MD, MSc or PhD) and/or MBA.
  • Specific experience in marketing, forecasting / analytics, management consulting and leading teams.
  • Bilingualism (English / French).
  • Experience supporting late-stage development, launch planning or commercialization of oncology therapies, ideally across multiple brands or tumor types.
  • Experience representing Canada or a region on global oncology asset or brand teams and influencing global strategy.
  • Proven track record leading multiple oncology launches within a 3–5-year timeframe in markets with significant market access and competitive complexity.
  • Experience managing multi-brand oncology portfolios (e.g., lung franchise, solid tumor franchise) with overlapping launch and lifecycle demands.


Working Pattern
This role is hybrid. You will be expected to be on-site in our Mississauga office 2-3 days per week for key meetings and team activities and work remotely as agreed with your manager.
