Reporting to the Ventilation Sales Director, the Ventilation Outside Sales Representative is responsible for driving engineering specifications by working closely with consulting engineers, engineering firms, and designers involved in HVAC and ventilation projects.
The role focuses on influencing projects upstream, ensuring products are specified at the design stage, and supporting engineers throughout the pre‑design and tender phases. The incumbent acts as a technical and commercial resource, collaborating internally with application engineering and sales support teams.
• Develop and execute strategies to maintain and grow engineering specification activity with existing and new engineering and consulting firms, in alignment with regional sales objectives.
• Manage all sales and specification‑related activities for the assigned engineering accounts within the territory.
• Proactively initiate outbound prospecting to identify, qualify, and develop new engineering accounts.
• Provide equipment selection support and related technical documentation to consultant engineers during the design and pre‑tender phases.
• Prepare and present project budgets and preliminary pricing to engineers to support design decisions.
• Develop and maintain product equivalence and substitution tables to support specifications and tender reviews.
• Participate in marketing and specification‑driven initiatives, including technical presentations and Lunch & Learn sessions.
• Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships with engineering firms and key HVAC market participants within the region.
• Track market activity, competitive information, and project status, and share insights with the regional sales and marketing teams.
• Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date customer and project information within the CRM system.
• Participate in industry organizations and trade associations (e.g., ASHRAE) to strengthen market visibility and engineering relationships.
• Post secondary education in HVAC or related discipline.
• 5–10 years of HVAC/R commercial sales experience.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC products and engineering applications.
• Ability to provide equipment selections based on engineering parameters.
• Consultative sales approach with strong problem solving skills.
• Proficient with MS Office; experience with ERP/CRM systems is an asset.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
• Strong time management in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel up to 50%
• Self motivated, customer focused, with a commitment to continuous learning.
Compensation Information:
Base Salary Range: $80,000 - $110,000 annually + Commission & Annual bonus
The final salary will be determined based on the candidate’s skills and experience, in compliance with applicable regulations.
