Leading with agility!

Why Work here:

Always there. Anywhere. That’s us! We are committed to delivering inspired solutions for a better world. We care about our communities, we care about each other, and we care about showing up for those who need us. We never break a promise, and we have the courage to do the right thing, even when it’s hard. We take pride in holding ourselves to the highest standard of integrity and excellence in all that we do.

To be on the leading edge of our industry takes an agile mindset. It’s a new energy world and our Project Risk Management team thrives in the face of such challenge. The work is exciting, urgent, and collaborative, but everyone has autonomy over their domain and a chance to make their mark. It takes imagination and a willingness to take risks and execute on your vision. Together we can bring the right solution at the right time for customers.

We are seeking a Risk Lead accountable for establishing, maintaining, and continuously improving the project risk management framework for the Yellowhead Pipeline Project. You will provide independent and integrated oversight of execution, regulatory, commercial, and delivery risks, ensuring risks are clearly identified, assessed, mitigated, and reported in alignment with corporate governance, regulatory expectations, and executive decision-making requirements

What You’ll Do:

  • Oversee, monitor, and maintain the Yellowhead Pipeline Project Risk Management Framework, ensuring it remains current, effective, and aligned with corporate risk standards and project governance requirements.

  • Ensure the framework is consistently applied across all project phases and functional areas, and updated as project conditions, risk profiles, and execution strategies evolve.

  • Maintain the Project Risk Register, ensuring risks are clearly articulated, consistently assessed (likelihood, impact, velocity), and supported by defined mitigation strategies.

  • Monitor alignment of risk ownership, mitigation ownership, and accountability across the project team, addressing gaps or overlaps identified through governance reviews or assurance activities.
  • Ensure risks reflect execution, schedule, cost, supply chain, regulatory, stakeholder, and commercial considerations consistent with Yellowhead’s scale and complexity.

  • Validate risk assessments and challenge assumptions to ensure ratings remain current as project conditions evolve
  • Monitor progress against mitigation plans, identifying emerging risks, risk escalation triggers, and mitigation effectiveness.

  • Prepare and maintain formal risk reporting for executive and senior leadership forums, including Top Risk Reports and quarterly risk updates.

  • Coordinate closely with regulatory, Indigenous Relations, land, and environmental teams to ensure regulatory and stakeholder related risks are accurately captured and mitigated.

  • Promote a proactive risk culture across the project team, encouraging early identification and transparent escalation of risks.

  • Incorporate lessons learned and evolving best practices into the risk management approach throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, technical, environmental and regulatory requirements.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor of Engineering, Business, Finance, Construction or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with APEGA is preferred.

  • Risk Related Certification (e.g. PMI-RMP or equivalent)

  • 10+ years of experience in capital project delivery, project controls, risk management, or a related project governance function, preferably on large, complex infrastructure or energy projects.

  • Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating project risk management activities, including:

    • Maintaining and governing a Project Risk Register

    • Facilitating risk identification and review sessions

    • Monitoring mitigation actions and risk trends

  • Experience integrating risk with cost, schedule, and change management, ensuring risk exposure informs forecasting, contingency, and executive decision‑making.

  • Experience supporting executive‑level or governance reporting, including preparation of risk summaries, dashboards, or Top Risk reports for senior leadership.

  • Familiarity with regulatory and stakeholder‑driven project environments, particularly where permitting, consultation, or regulatory decisions influence execution risk.

  • Ability to challenge risk assumptions constructively and independently

  • High level of judgment, discretion, and governance awareness

  • Clear written and verbal communication for executive audiences
