Sunbelt Rentals is seeking a safety‑focused Road Mechanic – Power & HVAC to support our growing specialty division. In this role, you will travel to customer sites to perform diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and complex repairs on generators, power distribution systems, and HVAC equipment, ensuring optimal performance and uptime.

We welcome experienced mechanics as well as motivated apprentices eager to build a career in Power & HVAC.

What You Will Do

As a Road Mechanic – Power & HVAC, you will service and repair equipment on job sites in a safe, efficient, and professional manner. Responsibilities include:

• Performing preventive maintenance on generators, power distribution units, and HVAC systems
• Diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and control system issues
• Completing repairs on diesel generators, load banks, air conditioners, heaters, and ventilation systems
• Supporting emergency service calls to minimize customer downtime
• Operating in a fast‑paced, customer‑focused environment with shifting priorities
• Representing Sunbelt Rentals professionally at customer locations

Our Equipment Focus

You will primarily work on Power & HVAC specialty fleet, including:

• Diesel and natural gas generators
• Power distribution panels and cables
• Climate control equipment (AC units, heaters, air handlers)
• Dehumidification and ventilation systems

Education & Experience

You will be set up for success if you have:

• High school diploma or GED (required)
• Mechanical or electrical training (trade school or apprenticeship program preferred)
• Experience with generators, HVAC systems, or diesel engines (strongly preferred)
• Apprentices with strong mechanical aptitude are encouraged to apply
• Red Seal Heavy Duty, Electrical, or HVAC certification is an asset

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Ability to supply your own standard mechanic’s tools
• Working knowledge (or willingness to learn) of electrical systems, diesel engines, and HVAC equipment
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision
• Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
• Commitment to safety and continuous learning
