We are seeking a high-performing Construction Electrician to join our team for commercial, industrial, and residential projects. This role is designed for a technical professional who holds or is looking to finish their requirements to achieve their Red Seal Endorsement (RSE).
As an electrician in our organization, you are responsible for the lifeblood of modern infrastructure. Whether you are a certified Journeyperson or a senior apprentice in your final year, you will be expected to uphold the Red Seal Occupational Standard (RSOS) and the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), ensuring every circuit, panel, and system is installed with the highest degree of safety and technical precision.
In accordance with the national standards for the Construction Electrician trade, your primary duties include:
Installation & Layout: Read and interpret blueprints, circuit diagrams, and specifications to plan wiring layouts. Install, replace, and repair electrical controls and panelboards.
Wiring & Conduit: Measure, cut, bend, thread, and install conduit and tubing. Pull wire through conduits and into boxes. Master the installation of armored cable (AC/BX) and non-metallic sheathed cable (NMD).
Power Distribution: Install and connect power distribution equipment, including transformers, switchgear, and motors.
Low Voltage & Control Systems: Install and maintain signaling and communication systems, including fire alarms, security systems, and automated building controls.
Troubleshooting & Testing: Use specialized tools (multimeters, insulation testers, circuit tracers) to diagnose faults in electrical systems and ensure continuity and safety.
Compliance & Safety: Ensure all work meets the latest edition of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and provincial amendments. Maintain strict adherence to Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) and Arc Flash safety protocols.
Mentorship: If certified, supervise and sign off on the hours of junior apprentices. If finishing requirements, work with our Journeypersons to master Major Work Activities (MWAs) like motor control centers and complex three-phase systems.
Certification Status: Must be a Journeyperson or a Senior Apprentice currently looking to finish their requirements to achieve their Red Seal Endorsement (RSE).
Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of electrical theory (Ohm’s Law, Kirchhoff’s Law) and a master-level familiarity with the CEC.
Physical Stamina: Ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and stand for long periods. Ability to lift up to 25kg.
Precision: Exceptional hand-eye coordination and attention to detail—there is no room for error in electrical safety.
Driver’s License: Valid Class 5 license with a clean driving abstract.
