We are seeking a dedicated and safety-oriented Gasfitter - Class B to join our residential and commercial service team. This position is tailored for a professional who holds or is looking to finish their requirements to achieve their Red Seal Endorsement (RSE).
As a Class B Gasfitter, you are the frontline expert for gas-fired appliances up to and including 400,000 BTUs. Whether you are a certified Journeyperson or a senior apprentice in the final stages of your training, you will be expected to uphold the Red Seal Occupational Standard (RSOS), ensuring that every installation and service call meets the rigorous safety and efficiency standards of the Canadian gas industry.
In accordance with the national standards for the Gasfitter trade and the CSA B149.1 Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code, your duties include:
Appliance Installation: Install, maintain, and service gas-fired appliances such as furnaces, boilers, water heaters, ranges, and fireplaces within the Class B BTU limit.
Piping & Venting: Design and install gas piping systems (black iron, copper, CSST) and venting systems, ensuring correct sizing and clearance from combustibles.
System Diagnostics: Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical failures in residential and light commercial equipment, including ignition modules, gas valves, and safety limits.
Testing & Commissioning: Conduct pressure tests to ensure system integrity. Perform combustion analysis to ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently.
Conversion Work: Perform fuel conversions (Natural Gas to Propane and vice-versa) in compliance with manufacturer specifications and provincial regulations.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all provincial safety acts. Perform regular inspections to identify hazardous conditions such as carbon monoxide leaks or improper venting.
Mentorship: If certified, supervise and mentor junior apprentices. If finishing requirements, work with our Journeypersons to master Major Work Activities (MWAs) such as complex hydronic controls and propane system set-ups.
Certification Status: Must be a Journeyperson or a Senior Apprentice currently looking to finish their requirements to achieve their Red Seal Endorsement (RSE).
Licensing: Must possess a valid provincial Gasfitter - Class B license (or be in the final stage of qualifying for one).
Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of gas laws, venting principles, and low-voltage electrical circuits.
Physical Stamina: Ability to work in confined spaces (crawl spaces/attics), climb ladders, and lift equipment up to 25kg.
Customer Service: Excellent communication skills for explaining technical issues and safety recommendations to homeowners and business owners.
Driverβs License: Valid Class 5 license with a clean abstract is required for service vehicle operation.
