Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Credentials: Holds or looking to finish their requirements to achieve their Red Seal Endorsement (RSE) Reporting To: Maintenance Manager / Electrical Lead
We are seeking a high-level Industrial Electrician to join our facility’s maintenance and engineering team. This position is specifically designed for a technical professional who holds or is looking to finish their requirements to achieve their Red Seal Endorsement (RSE).
In an industrial environment, your role is critical to minimizing downtime and ensuring the safe operation of complex automated systems. Whether you are a certified Journeyperson or a senior apprentice in the final stages of your training, you will be expected to operate at the Red Seal Occupational Standard (RSOS), maintaining the sophisticated electrical infrastructure that powers Canadian industry.
In accordance with the national standards for the Industrial Electrician trade, your primary duties include:
Preventative & Predictive Maintenance: Conduct scheduled inspections and testing on industrial equipment, including high-voltage switchgear, transformers, and large-scale motor control centers (MCCs).
Advanced Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair faults in automated systems, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and distributed control systems (DCS).
Installation & Commissioning: Read and interpret complex industrial blueprints, schematics, and P&IDs to install, wire, and commission new production machinery and robotic systems.
Power Distribution: Maintain and repair high-voltage systems (up to and exceeding 600V), including bus ducts, industrial generators, and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS).
Instrumentation & Control: Calibrate and maintain industrial instruments, sensors, and transducers used for pressure, temperature, and flow monitoring.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure all work meets the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and provincial industrial safety standards. Lead the implementation of Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) and Arc Flash safety protocols.
Mentorship: If certified, provide technical guidance and sign-off for junior industrial apprentices. If finishing requirements, work with our Journeypersons to master Major Work Activities (MWAs) such as PLC programming and high-voltage termination.
Certification Status: Must be a Journeyperson or a Senior Apprentice currently looking to finish their requirements to achieve their Red Seal Endorsement (RSE).
Technical Proficiency: Expert-level understanding of industrial automation, motor controls, and three-phase power systems. Familiarity with PLC platforms (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) is a major asset.
Problem-Solving: The ability to work under pressure to resolve critical system failures in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
Physical Capability: Ability to work in industrial settings, including heights, confined spaces, and near energized high-voltage equipment.
Mathematical Competency: Proficiency in advanced trade math for load calculations, power factor correction, and system tuning.
The Industrial Electrician Red Seal is a mark of elite technical ability in Canada. We support your professional excellence by providing:
The Path to Completion: For those finishing their RSE, we offer a diverse industrial environment—ranging from heavy machinery to advanced robotics—to ensure you are prepared for the Interprovincial Exam.
Premium Compensation: Top-tier wages that reflect the complexity of industrial systems and your commitment to national certification standards.
National Mobility: An RSE credential that ensures your skills are recognized in every industrial plant and refinery across Canada.
