Welder, Mine Maintenance

Make your mark while you grow your career! As the first line of support, Welders are an integral member of Canadian Natural’s Mining team. You will directly support mine maintenance goals and objectives at our Albian Mine. In this role, you will collaborate with and work alongside field and shop maintenance crews to ensure that all heavy equipment is optimized and maintained. You will utilize your welding experience to focus on the maintenance requirements for designated heavy equipment including Haul Trucks, Dozers, Graders, Loaders, Excavators and other support equipment.

• Job location: Fort McMurray, Alberta - Albian Oil Sands Site
• Shift schedule: 7 days on, 7 off, 7 nights on, 7 off, 12-hour shifts (Wednesday start)
• Safety sensitive position: Yes

Key Accountabilities:

• Provide technical assistance and expertise in various welding jobs
• Deliver safe, efficient and quality workmanship on equipment repairs
• Identify and acquire the necessary resources to complete tasks
• Ensure that preventative maintenance guidelines are adhered to and maintain complete and accurate records
• Execute all planned maintenance and running maintenance repairs on the mobile fleet
• Support other trades in the removal and replacement of major components 
• Actively participate in continuous improvement and our safety management system

What You Bring to the Role: 

• 5+ years of working on mining equipment, specifically supporting off road heavy equipment
• Welder Journeyperson Certificate in Alberta with an Interprovincial Red Seal Certificate
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license
• Basic understanding of computer based Mine Maintenance Planning Programs and Microsoft Office suite
