GMG Fish Services Ltd., a division of Cooke Aquaculture Inc., a dynamic and growing east coast family company with Platinum Member status in the Canada’s Best Managed Companies program, has an immediate opening for a Fabricator in our Plastic Welding department based out of St. George, New Brunswick.

The Role
As a result of our robust growth we are seeking Fabricators to join our team of plastic welders in our St. George/Back Bay locations. Reporting to the Production Manager.
The Fabricator – Plastic Welding is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, repair and finishing of plastic aquaculture cages and related components. This role involves working with plastic materials, tools, and equipment to produce high-quality, durable cages that meet design specifications, safety standards, and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Fabrication & Assembly
- Fabricate and assemble plastic aquaculture cages and components according to drawings, work instructions, and production schedules.
- Fuse, cut, weld, form, and fasten plastic components using appropriate tools and equipment (e.g., fusion equipment, plastic welding, extrusion, hand and power tools).
- Measure and inspect components to ensure accuracy and quality standards are met.
- Perform finishing tasks such as trimming, grinding, drilling, and fitting.
Quality & Safety
- Follow all quality, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Identify and report defects, damaged materials, or process issues to the supervisor.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times.
- Properly handle materials and equipment to prevent damage or injury
Equipment & Materials
- Operate and maintain fabrication tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Perform basic equipment checks and report maintenance needs.
- Handle plastic materials (e.g., HDPE) and components according to specifications.
Teamwork & Communication
- Work collaboratively with production team members, supervisors, and quality personnel.
- Follow production priorities and adapt to changing work demands.
- Assist with loading, staging, and preparation of completed cages for shipment when required.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of all aspects of production and repair processes for aquaculture cages.
- Ability to work unsupervised and make independent decisions

- Ability to work in an organized manner to meet targets and production requirements
Physical & Working Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, lift, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift to [e.g., 30 to 50 lbs] with or without assistance.
- Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, machinery, cold weather and plastic materials.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Skills & Competencies
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and workmanship quality.
- Basic measuring and math skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
- Good physical stamina and ability to perform manual tasks.
Working Conditions:
- Manufacturing shop and outdoor environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and industrial materials.
- May require extended hours during peak production periods.
- Occasional travel to customer sites as required.

Work hours are Monday - Friday, 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, be willing to work flexible hours, and have reliable transportation.
