Pipeline Integrity Specialist

The Pipeline Integrity Specialist will work closely with the Asset Integrity and broader Operations teams to provide technical and regulatory support in promoting and enhancing our corporate pipeline integrity programs. This is a full-time, permanent position based out of our Calgary headquarters that qualifies to work up to 1 day per week from home. Travel to field sites may occur on both a planned and unplanned basis.

The Role

  • Long term planning, implementation, and enhancement of Canlin's Pipeline Integrity Programming, collaborating closely with Integrity stakeholders both within and outside the business.
  • Managing and executing pipeline risk assessments, integrity assessments, and engineering assessments.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships in both the field and office environments.
  • Compilation and reporting of key performance indicators related to Pipeline Integrity.
  • Developing and executing inspection strategy related to maintenance activities, monitoring, and risk assessments.
  • Championing long-term integrity plans to ensure safe and compliant operation of Canlin assets, minimizing downtime.
  • Providing technical support to the broader Engineering and Operations functions related to design, regulatory, and corrosion control scope for pipelines; as well as QA/QC review of construction/MOC projects.
  • Provide technical expertise in identifying, prioritizing, and addressing non-conformances to Canlin's PIMS & PEIMS programs.
  • Supporting with spill reporting, internal and external audits, and incident investigations.
  • Reviewing and approve competencies, qualifications, and technical procedures of service providers to verify program requirements are satisfied.
  • Providing related training to field/office and service provider personnel as required.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

The Person

  • Degree or Diploma in a relevant engineering discipline. Active registration with APEGA is an asset.
  • ASET (or equivalent), with 10 years' experience in Asset Integrity management.
  • Experience/certification in the following would be an asset; CSA Z662 and NACE/AMPP, API 510 or National Board.
  • Strong understanding of Asset Integrity related codes, standards, best practices and regulatory requirements including AER, BCER, and ABSA.
  • Well versed in quality management systems, pipeline design, operation, and maintenance.
  • Self-motivated with ability to collaborate with multiple teams focusing on efficient and safe operations.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interact with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office, Abadata/geoSCOUT and data analysis tools.
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license.
